Traveling westward by car, about 5 kilometers from the eastern suburbs of the city, you’ll find the lush and ancient forested area of Sandaoheba, located on the downstream floodplain of the Kalanggur River. As early as during the Tongzhi era of the Qing Dynasty, willow and elm trees grew in this area. In 1980, the urban development authorities planned the Sandaoheba woodland as a forest park and planted 26.67 hectares (1 hectare equals 15 mu) of trees that year, with additional tree planting carried out continuously in the following years. By 1997, Sandaoheba Park had 106.53 hectares of riverside green space and over 50,000 various trees. Some ancient willow trees have a trunk diameter of up to 2.4 meters and a height of 16 meters, displaying a fascinating array of forms and shapes. The forest floor is rich in grassland vegetation, dotted with colorful wildflowers, while natural springs flow year-round, providing clear and sweet-tasting water. The air is fresh, birds sing, and butterflies flutter. A resort has been built here, making it a popular leisure destination for local residents.
