The carefree Happy Forest is situated in the Ulastai River basin, which runs through the river flats at the northern end of Tacheng City. Since 1980, trees have been planted here artificially year after year. In 1982, it was formally planned as a park site; in 1989, using the original fishpond, an artificial lake was dug and expanded, with a water area of 1.33 hectares. A total of 43,000 trees were planted, including poplar, willow, elm, oleaster, ashleaf maple, and other species, covering an area of 33.33 hectares, which has now grown into a dense forest. The park is equipped with steel-wooden and stone tables and benches, and the artificial lake features various seating arrangements, along with opportunities for boating and yachting. A babbling brook flows gently, green grass spreads out, and the air is fresh. Small boats drift leisurely on the lake while birds chirp cheerfully in the woods. The people of Tacheng are warm, hospitable, straightforward, and sincere. Every spring and summer, those who come for outings bring abundant food and simple cooking gear to gather here and enjoy the gifts of nature, having fun and relaxing to their hearts’ content. Hence, the name “Happy Forest.”
