Tacheng Regional Museum

Tacheng Regional Museum, located on Jiefang Road in Tacheng City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, officially opened in March 2008.

The Tacheng Regional Museum houses a collection of cultural relics including 24 first-class national relics, 17 second-class relics, 64 third-class relics, and over 300 outstanding pieces of ethnic and folk cultural relics. It proudly presents four major exhibitions: “The Ancient Path of Tashan and the Dawn of the River – Exhibition of Historical Relics in Tacheng,” “Dreams of Soaring – Exhibition of Ethnic and Folk Culture in Tacheng,” “Monument to Patriotism – Exhibition of Revolutionary Historical Relics in Tacheng Region,” and “Exhibition of Achievements of Reform and Opening-Up in Tacheng Region.” These exhibitions reveal Tacheng’s past and present from historical, ethnic, and contemporary perspectives, showcasing the region’s rich and diverse traditional cultures.

Tacheng Regional Museum was originally built in the second year of the Xuantong era of the Qing Dynasty. Construction began in 1910 and was completed in 1914. The building covers a floor area of 2,043 square meters, with two stories and a total of 16 rooms. Its ceilings, floors, door frames, and window lattices are all adorned with patterns, and it has a green iron sheet roof, featuring a Russian architectural style. Because its street-facing wall is rust-red in color, it is known as the Red Building.
