The Minaret of the Baytulla Mosque

The Minaret of the Baytulla Mosque is located on Xinhua East Road in Yining City. It is said to have been built in 1773 (the 38th year of the Qianlong reign during the Qing Dynasty). It was the first Islamic mosque constructed in Ili with direct funding from the Qing government. The mosque covers an area of approximately 1,800 square meters and consists of a minaret, prayer hall, and lecture hall. Currently, only the minaret remains; the prayer hall and lecture hall have been demolished, and a modern mosque with strong Islamic architectural features has been built on the original site. The minaret faces east and has a pointed spire. It covers an area of 158.5 square meters, measures 12.7 meters in length from east to west, 12.4 meters in width from north to south, and stands 18.3 meters tall, with a total of four stories.
