Huihu Temple

Huihu Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

Huihu Temple is located 700 meters west of the ancient city of Beiting. It is currently the only surviving Huihu temple ruin in northern Xinjiang. The site features a grand scale and unique architectural style. The temple faces south and measures 70.5 meters from north to south and 43.8 meters from east to west. It consists of 15 cave niches, 8 side halls, 4 storage rooms, and 5 monks' quarters, forming a traditional courtyard complex. The main hall's remaining height is 14.3 meters, while the side halls vary between 0.2 to 4 meters in height. On both sides of the main hall to the north, there are two levels of Buddha caves arranged vertically. Many Buddha statues remain in the east and west side halls, including those of the Buddha, bodhisattvas, arhats, heavenly kings, and sacred lions, which can still be faintly identified. Among them is a reclining Buddha, 9 meters long, depicting the Buddha’s nirvana. The figure is lifelike and vivid. Opposite the reclining Buddha, there is a mural with fine brushwork, bright colors, and visible ancient Uyghur script. The Buddha statues in the west side hall are either seated or standing, each with distinct expressions, reflecting the advanced state of Buddhist culture at that time.
