Kalameili Mountain

Kalameili Mountain stretches from the Ulungur River in the north to the southern edge of Kalameili Mountain in the south, and from the eastern edge of the Gurbantünggüt Desert in the west. It is the largest wildlife reserve in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and one of the largest of its kind in China.

Kalameili Mountain is home to first-class nationally protected animals such as snow leopards, Mongolian wild asses, Przewalski's horses, saiga antelopes, and ibexes, as well as second-class protected species like goitered gazelles, and dozens of other wild animals including argali, red deer, and blue sheep. The area also features the natural vegetation that sustains wildlife, such as desert plants like populus euphratica, jujube trees, saxaul, tamarix, caragana, juniperus, yellow thorn, rose willow, and wild roses, along with water resources within the reserve—making it an ideal destination for potential development of desert adventure and hunting activities.
