Qitai County Museum

The Qitai County Museum was first established in 1997. In 2004, with the support of higher-level departments, Qitai County raised over 22 million yuan through multiple channels and commenced construction on the 10,025-square-meter Lihua Jian Cultural Building. After the building was completed, the museum was relocated to the third floor of the Lihua Jian Building. The museum facility covers an area of 1,840 square meters, including 1,450 square meters for exhibition halls, 65 square meters for cultural relics storage, and 55 square meters for security and monitoring rooms. The Qitai Museum features exquisite interior decoration, advanced security facilities, and a cultural relics storage area that meets construction standards, with scientifically and rationally arranged exhibits. The museum currently houses a collection of over 1,700 cultural relics, including 4 national first-grade relics, 43 national second-grade relics, over 400 national third-grade relics, and a large number of relics currently under appraisal. It has also collected 264 folk items for five ethnic culture exhibitions and 590 relics for exhibition display. The exhibition layout is divided into three main sections: the first section, "Vast Changes of the Land," reflects the geological history and biological evolution of Qitai; the second section, "Chronicles of the Land," showcases the social and historical development of Qitai County, displaying relics and site images from the Bronze Age, Iron Age, and the Han, Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, Qing dynasties, as well as the Republican period; the third section, "Local Customs and Scenery," highlights reforms since the establishment of Qitai’s local government, industrial and agricultural production, cultural, educational, and health initiatives, as well as ethnic customs and folklore. Since its opening on October 1, 2006, the museum has become a patriotic education base for Qitai County.
