Laba Lake

Laba Lake, located on the edge of the Mu Us Desert at the border between Ningxia and Inner Mongolia, is known in Mongolian as “the lake like the sea.” It combines the natural landscapes of desert, yellow sand, high mountains, lakes, springs, and oases. Adjacent to the Mashi Stone Neolithic Site and the Taole Long Dyke Cultural Heritage Site, it boasts unique natural scenery and rich historical and cultural heritage. A blend of Han and Mongolian cultures with simple local customs. Ride camels across the desert, drive off-road vehicles for dune surfing and sand sliding, and witness the spectacular sight of “lone smoke in the vast desert and the setting sun over the Yellow River” all within close reach. Here, you can also enjoy ecological garden sightseeing and fruit picking, participate in Ironman extreme challenge activities, outdoor military training camps, and relax in the comfort of desert hot springs. In the height of summer 2012, the beach sports base was put into use, kicking off the first off-road desert arena race hosted by the enthusiastic China Ningxia Motor Club.

The scenic area engages in desert tourism development services, catering, livestock and aquaculture, tree planting and seedling cultivation, agricultural and sideline product sales, and sand prevention and control projects. It is an emerging player in desert eco-tourism development with promising growth prospects.

To date, the scenic area has invested 28 million yuan to develop and build a farmhouse resort, which includes a vacation village, dining and leisure club, desert motor club, fishing center, and fruit and forest picking zones, covering a total area of 2,000 mu. It employs over 40 staff members and has a one-time reception capacity of 1,500 people for dining and entertainment, and 10,000 people for motor enthusiasts. Ongoing projects include fruit and forest picking areas, a desert sports base, and a vacation sand therapy and water bath center.

Transportation: Take a bus from Yinchuan Bus Station to Taole or a public bus from Pingluo County Bus Station to Taole, then get off at Taole Town. Alternatively, you may drive there by yourself.
