Former Site of the Public Security Bureau of the Anti-Japanese Democratic Government of Wuzhai County

The former site of the Public Security Bureau of the Anti-Japanese Democratic Government of Wuzhai County is located on Daxi Street, Chengnei Village, Yancheng Town, Wuzhai County. In 1940, the Anti-Japanese Democratic Government of Wuzhai County established the Public Security Bureau. In 1945, it was relocated from Jifang Village, Xinglingzi Township, to its current location. On April 4, 1948, over 30 leaders of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee, including Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, and Ren Bishi, arrived in Wuzhai from Kelan County, stayed here to rest, and met with local leading cadres. The existing site faces south and measures 50 meters in length from north to south and 36.2 meters in width from east to west, covering an area of 1,810 square meters. It features a three-courtyard layout. Except for the passageways in the second and third courtyards, which retain the original architectural style, the buildings in the courtyard have been reconstructed. In the 1960s, the gate lintel was inscribed with the words “Serve the People,” with a raised five-pointed star on the top and peace doves sculpted on both sides, reflecting the distinctive characteristics of the era.
