Nanfeng Reservoir

Nanfeng Reservoir, located 200 meters north of Yaoshangzi Village in Qiansuo Township, Wuzhai County, was jointly built by the military and civilians in 1958 to regulate flood peaks, control discharge volumes, and support irrigation development. The completion of this water conservancy project made significant contributions to promoting industrial and agricultural production and continues to play an important role today. The reservoir’s key infrastructure consists of the dam body and spillway tunnel. The dam is 39.3 meters high, 300 meters long, with a top width of 4 meters, and has a storage capacity of 5.08 million cubic meters, providing effective irrigation for 37,000 mu of land. A hexagonal pavilion was built on the east side of the dam, featuring six commemorative plaques that document the collaborative efforts of soldiers and civilians in constructing the reservoir. Additionally, there is a reservoir construction command post, whose gate bears the inscription “Serve the People” and is topped with a prominent red star, reflecting the characteristics of the era. Qiansuo Township: "A township under the jurisdiction of Wuzhai County. It was part of Nanfeng Commune in 1958, became Qiansuo Commune in 1982, and was established as a township in 1984. Located in the southeastern part of the county, it is 5 kilometers from the county seat. Covering an area of 64 square kilometers with a population of 9,000, it is traversed by the Yangfangkou–Kelan Highway. The township administers 12 village committees: Qiansuo, Yousuo, Nanping, Gushan, Zhangjia, Gejia, Xuejia, Duzui, Nijiawa, Jiubao, Fuzigou, and Bianqiangzi. The main agricultural crops are corn, potatoes, and sorghum. The area is known for producing onions that are sold across various regions. Facilities include a seed farm and an agricultural machinery station."
