Sancha Memorial Archway

Sancha Memorial Archway, located north of the cross street in Sancha Village, Sancha Town, Wuzhai County. Its date of construction is unknown, but the existing structure dates back to the Qing Dynasty. It faces south and measures 11.2 meters in width and 4.2 meters in length, covering an area of 47.04 square meters. The archway features a hip-and-gable roof, with all four pillars supported by diagonal braces and equipped with clamp stones. The front of the upper story is inscribed with the characters 正位居体 (“upright and central in position”) in regular script, while the back is inscribed with 大观在上 (“the grand view is above”). The eaves are adorned with nine-tiered brackets, and the lower beams are supported by stable columns. The entire structure is richly decorated with carvings. In November 2001, it was designated as a municipal-level cultural relics protection unit by the People's Government of Xinzhou City. (Excerpt from “Treasures of Xinzhou Cultural Relics”)
