Ruins of Nanchan Temple

The ruins of Nanchan Temple are a cultural relic protection unit of Wucai County.

The ruins of Nanchan Temple are located on Nanfengtai in Zhoujia Village, Yancheng Town, Wucai County. The site spans 22.86 meters from east to west and 27.53 meters from north to south, covering an area of 630 square meters. The date of its construction and abandonment are unknown. One stone stele from the 12th year of the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty (1832), titled "Stele for the Reconstruction of Nanshan Platform Temple," still remains. The inscription records the reconstruction of Nanchan Temple in the 12th year of the Daoguang reign (1832). The current structures are newly built. In November 2001, the People's Government of Wucai County designated it as a county-level cultural relic protection unit. (Excerpted from "A Collection of Cultural Relics in Xinzhou")
