Zhongding Village

Zhongding Village has a population of 156 people

, at an altitude of 1,700 meters,

and consists of 44 households, primarily inhabited by Tibetans and Nu people. According to the elders here, during the missionary period of French priest Jean-Baptiste Rian, Zhongding Village planted large areas of grapes. At the same time, winemakers were specially brought in from France and Deqen, cellars were built, and they were used exclusively for storing wine. It is recorded that the chestnut trees here were planted in 1927 by French missionary Xu Shizuo using seeds he brought from abroad. By the Nujiang River below Zhongding Village, there are still seven abandoned gold mines, where the old lamps used for lighting during mining can still be seen in the caves—this truly reflects the saying that “the mountains around Bingzhongluo are full of treasures, and the rivers flow with gold.”
