Qiunatong

This is the last village at the northern end of the Nujiang Grand Canyon. Cross the Nidatan area via the Chaohong Bridge, then climb over a mountain to get there. The Chaohong Bridge is also a suspension bridge, built quite some time ago. Residential houses are scattered along the mountainside. From here, heading north, there are only mule paths that lead all the way to Zayü in Tibet.

The Qiunatong Canyon is the most pristine and breathtaking section of the entire Nujiang Grand Canyon, featuring dense primeval forests and numerous waterfalls. Traveling through the canyon, you’ll be surrounded by spectacular scenery. It’s about 17 kilometers from Bingzhongluo to Qiunatong. Vehicles can only go as far as Shimen Pass, and the rest of the journey must be completed on foot (approximately 4 hours). As long as it’s not raining, the road is manageable, but the path to Qiunatong becomes very difficult to pass when it rains—bringing a guide is highly recommended.

Bingzhongluo Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Gongshan Dulong and Nu Autonomous County. In 1933, it was called Dalajia Township under the Gongshan Administrative Bureau; in 1939, it was named Qiwén Township; in 1950, it became the First District of Gongshan County; in 1969, the Bingzhongluo Commune was established; in 1984, it was restructured as a district; and in 1988, it became a township. Located in the northeastern part of the autonomous county, it is 30.5 kilometers from the county seat and borders Zayü County of the Tibet Autonomous Region to the north. Covering an area of 823 square kilometers, it has a population of 6,000, with ethnic groups including the Nu, Tibetan, and Lisu. The Nujiang River runs through the entire territory.
