Pu Family Courtyard

The Pu Family Courtyard is the former residence of Pu Shimin, a revolutionary thinker who spread revolutionary ideas in Quankong, Shuangjiang Desheng (now Dawen Township). Quankong, now known as Qianxin in Dawen Township, is located deep in the mountains on the western bank of the Lancang River, east of the county. It is over 60 kilometers from the county seat and 9.5 kilometers from the Dawen Township government. The Pu Family Courtyard was built between 1944 and 1945. The structure is a two-story stilt-style building made of wood and earth, covering an area of 726.8 square meters. In August 1999, Dawen Township was designated as a revolutionary base area by the provincial Party committee and government.

In the autumn of 1948, underground Communist Party member Li Peilun, dispatched by the Yunnan Provincial Committee of the CPC, led Wei Wencai, a member of the Democratic Youth League, and Wang Weiren, a member of the New League, to Shuangjiang to carry out revolutionary work. They promoted revolutionary theory and organized armed struggle. After arriving in Shuangjiang, the three first went to Quankong in Desheng to establish contact with local enlightened figure Pu Shimin, and through Pu, they met Dao San. On February 27, 1949, under the organization and leadership of Li Peilun, Pu Shimin, and Dao San, people of various ethnic groups in Quankong launched an armed uprising, firing the first shot against the corrupt reactionary Kuomintang regime in Shuang-Mian (Shuangjiang and Myanmar border area). This laid the foundation for the liberation of Shuangjiang and spread revolutionary ideas among the multi-ethnic communities in the region. Therefore, the Pu Family Courtyard, a cultural site of the Dawen Township revolutionary base area, stands as a testament to revolutionary tradition and historical experience. It is a valuable spiritual legacy and also serves as a vivid teaching material for revolutionary tradition and patriotic education at that time.
