The Blang Ethnic Eco-Museum is situated in Zhanglang Village, Xiding Township, Menghai County, Xishuangbanna Prefecture. It boasts a favorable natural and cultural environment, abundant tangible and intangible heritage, and is a diverse convergence point of primitive religious culture, Buddhist culture, ethnic folk culture, and ancient tea culture. It features an ancient village with a history of over 1,000 years, the earliest ancient Blang Buddhist temple within Xishuangbanna, century-old ancient tea gardens, and the dense, ancient "Dragon Mountain" forest surrounding the village. It also preserves the traditional virtues and cultural customs of the Blang people, along with their classic traditional ways of production and living.

The Blang Ethnic Eco-Museum follows the philosophy and approach of "protecting the ecological environment, promoting eco-culture, developing eco-economy, and building ecological civilization," and is implemented according to the principles and methods of "government leadership, expert guidance, and villager-driven initiatives." The museum undertakes the "comprehensive protection, in-situ preservation, and resident-led conservation" of Zhanglang Village’s natural and human environments, as well as its tangible and intangible heritage. This ensures a relatively balanced ecological relationship between people, objects, and the environment, enabling sustainable and harmonious development in accordance with the requirements of scientific development. The establishment of the museum has made Zhanglang Village an important window and platform for showcasing and promoting Blang culture. It has gradually become a center for cultural exchange and in-depth research among various regional Blang communities, thereby drawing attention and support to the Blang people to foster their development and revitalization. At the same time, by preserving, exploring, and promoting Blang ethnic culture, it enhances ethnic pride and confidence, invigorates the national spirit, stimulates internal development momentum, and explores an effective path to fundamentally address poverty and development issues.

The Blang Ethnic Eco-Museum was organized and constructed under the leadership of the Publicity Department of the Xishuangbanna Prefectural Committee. After completion, it was integrated into the overall management framework of the village, with villagers taking charge of its management and development. This ensures the museum becomes an important part of villagers’ lives, maintaining its enduring vitality.
