Mengbang Reservoir

Mengbang Reservoir, also known as "Swan Lake," is located in a hilly basin at an altitude of 1,250 meters in the southern part of Mengzhe Town. Construction officially began on August 1, 1958. It was completed and filled with water in April 1960, with a total storage capacity of 24.9383 million cubic meters and an irrigated area of 45,000 mu. Upstream of the reservoir area, there is a Dai ethnic village—Mengbang Village. The famous writer Feng Mu’s essay "Between Lake Light and Mountain Haze" depicts the scenery of Swan Lake.

Mengzhe Town: Known as the "First Flatland of Xishuangbanna," the Mengzhe Basin spans 153 square kilometers and is situated in Menghai County in the western part of the autonomous prefecture. It resembles a large patterned basin nestled among mountains such as Banggan Mountain, Xiding Mountain, Nanshuang Ridge, and Guangta Xiangzhen. The basin is home to over 130 picturesque Dai villages and has more than 100,000 mu of paddy fields, making it a major grain-producing area in Xishuangbanna.
