China’s Western Tea Sea

"China’s Western Tea Sea" is an agricultural sightseeing park in Meitan themed around tea, covering an area of approximately 20 square kilometers. It includes three scenic areas: the county town, Yongxing, and Hetaoba, and serves as a demonstration zone for tea culture tourism in western China.

Meitan is named after water and famed for tea. It currently has over 120,000 mu of tea plantations, making it the largest tea production base in western China. It enjoys the reputation of "Drink Longjing in the east in Hangzhou, taste Cuiya in the west in Meitan." It is an ecological tourism destination that integrates tea culture, ecological culture, folk culture, and commercial culture. The scenic area features a combination of attractions known as "one city, one teapot, one festival, one conference, one institute, one field, and one village," all perfectly integrated.

"One city" refers to the "Western Tea City – Tea Trading Market." Located by the Meijiang River, it covers an area of 660 mu and is the largest tea market and distinctive economic-cultural park in Guizhou and even southwestern China, integrating tea production, processing, research, trade, culture, and tourism. "One teapot" refers to the World's Largest Teapot, situated on Xianhu Mountain in the scenic and pleasant urban area, covering 400 mu. The teapot stands 52 meters tall with a diameter of 17.8 meters, and has been recorded in the Guinness World Records.

"One festival and one conference" – Meitan has hosted several large-scale, influential, and unique tea culture events during the spring tea season, achieving unprecedented success and excellent results.

"One institute" refers to the Guizhou Tea Science Research Institute. Established in Meitan in 1939, it has made significant contributions to Meitan’s tea culture through decades of development.

"One village" refers to Hetaoba Village. Hetaoba Tea Farm – China’s No. 1 Tea Village, is located at the southeastern corner of the county town, 10 kilometers from the county seat on the eastern bank of the Meijiang River. It covers an area of 12 square kilometers, with 4,200 mu of tea plantations. Every household in the village grows tea, with farmsteads nestled among the tea gardens and shaded groves. The view presents a serene and prosperous "Peach Blossom Spring" scene.

Standing in the Tea Sea Park, you’ll be awed by the endless green waves and undulating sea of tea leaves. Everything in the world seems so small at this moment. From afar, the busy figures of tea-picking women resemble beautiful butterflies dancing among the vast green waves, making you feel as if you’ve entered a fairyland on earth.

Hetaoba Village: Hetaoba Village is located at the northeastern corner of Meitan County, 10 km from the county seat. The village covers a total area of 12 square kilometers, comprising 8 villager groups, 801 households, and 3,297 people, including 71 Party members. The per capita income is 5,600 yuan, and collective income is 120,740 yuan. The village currently has 7,100 mu of tea plantations, averaging 9 mu per household and over 2 mu per person. It is recognized as the "China Western Ecological Tea Specialty Village" and the "Zunyi City Village Cadre Training Base." Now, with 7,600 mu of tea plantations, tea has become the dominant industry in Hetaoba.
