The Exhibition Hall of Zhejiang University’s Westward Relocation is a cultural tourism attraction.
In the autumn of 1937, the flames of war spread across half of China under Japanese aggression. Forced by the wartime situation, Zhejiang University had to move westward. Led by President Zhu Kezhen, over 760 faculty and students successively relocated to Jiande in Zhejiang, Ji’an and Taihe in Jiangxi, Yishan in Guangxi, and Qingyan in Guizhou to continue their education. After a long journey of more than 2,500 kilometers, the faculty and students of Zhejiang University endured countless hardships and finally settled in Zunyi, Meitan, and Yongxing in Guizhou in early 1940 to resume their academic activities.
