Shijia Cave

Shijia Cave

Located on the cliffs along the Da’wu River. Legend has it that the cave once sheltered nobles of the Southern Ming Dynasty and hid the westward troops of Shi Dakai. Ancient poems are inscribed on the cave walls, metal artifacts have been unearthed inside, and a general’s seal from the Southern Ming Dynasty was found nearby. Remains of military camps can be seen around the cave. The Shi family living at the foot of the mountain claims to be descendants of Shi Dakai, and their family tombstones bear no inscriptions. The mysterious history of Shijia Cave awaits further historical research and verification.
