Fengqing Red Flower Camellia Tea
Fengqing Red Flower Camellia Tea is a specialty of Fengqing County in Lincang City, Yunnan Province. Fengqing County is one of the primary native regions of red flower camellia, where the unique climate and soil conditions are highly suitable for the development of the red flower camellia industry.
The people of Fengqing have long had the tradition of cultivating and utilizing red flower camellia, with artificially planted areas found in suitable locations such as barren hillsides, edges of farmland, and around homes. It is reported that red flower camellia can be used as rootstock for grafting camellias, helping to cultivate high-quality camellias and Pumen Mountain Tea. Its seeds can also be pressed for oil, which can be sold or consumed. Large-scale cultivation can also green and beautify the environment, improve the local ecological environment, and holds tremendous development potential.
As of now, the county has implemented artificial afforestation of red flower camellia covering an area of 141,000 mu (including 50,000 mu newly planted in 2013), with an additional 50,000 mu of naturally grown area, bringing the total cumulative area to 191,000 mu. The yield has reached 1,500 tons, with a production value of 30 million yuan.
