Huilongxi Scenic Area has been a provincial-level scenic spot since 1995, and Yanjiao Ancient Town is known as the “Town of Hundred Springs.” The area boasts uniquely shaped peaks and emerald-green waters, along with the charming local legend of “one stream from two temples, eight immortals taming nine lions, and nine lions bowing to one elephant.”

Huilongxi Scenic Area has been a provincial-level scenic spot since 1995, and Yanjiao Ancient Town is known as the “Town of Hundred Springs.” The area boasts uniquely shaped peaks and emerald-green waters,

along with the charming local legend of “one stream from two temples, eight immortals taming nine lions, and nine lions bowing to one elephant.” Mugong Village, located upstream of Huilongxi, is hailed as the “Longevity Village.” In the early 21st century, surveys found that the average lifespan of villagers exceeded 85 years, with 38 individuals aged over 90. Tests revealed that the water temperature of two hot springs remains a constant 29.3°C, rich in 24 trace elements including metasilicic acid, bicarbonate, iodine, and calcium. With its unique geographical advantages, climate, and rich ethnic minority culture, Yanjiao Ancient Town has long enjoyed a prestigious reputation.

Huilongxi Scenic Area is located in the northern part of Liuzhi, just 24 kilometers from the city center of Liuzhi and covers an area of 127.6 square kilometers. It is also 87 kilometers away from Zhijindong Cave, known as the “Treasure of the Earth.” Centered around Yanjiao Ancient Town, the scenic area includes 21 attractions such as Nine Lions Bowing to an Elephant, Flame Mountain’s “Taihe Yongqia” stone carving, Guanyin Cave, Guanyin Lotus Platform, Wanling Mountain, Xiaotun Ancient Fortress, Immortal Bridge, ancient fortresses, old temples, hot springs, and cold springs. The area is characterized by its unique mountains, clear waters, winding rivers, and peculiar springs, combining historical sites and local snacks, making it a great destination to experience the scenery of a southern coal town and water town.

Since its development in 2011, Huilongxi Scenic Area has leveraged its resource and landscape advantages to become a comprehensive resort integrating hot spring vacations, leisure wellness, hotel dining, nature sightseeing, senior living communities, children’s entertainment, and conference hosting. It is a top choice for tourism and leisure among nearby cities.

The scenic area boasts abundant natural resources, convenient transportation, distinct locational advantages, simple yet rich ethnic customs, unique cultural landscapes, colorful ethnic festival traditions, and a diverse tourism industry. Huilongxi River runs through the entire scenic area, with its clear waters complementing the historic cultural sites, offering high recreational value. It has been listed in the “2016 National Preferred Tourism Projects Directory,” selected as a 2016 Guizhou Provincial Pilot Resort Development Area, and chosen as a 2017 candidate for National AAAA-level Scenic Area development.

The first Hot Spring Festival and Huilongxi Food Culture Week were held from May 20 to 27, 2017. Activities included a sumptuous long-table banquet or thousand-person feast (pig-slaughtering feast), wellness hot spring baths (Huilongxi Hot Springs), and performances on the Huilong Grand Stage. Additionally, visitors could stroll through Yanjiao Ancient Town, take bamboo raft rides on Huilongxi River, and sample local delicacies such as traditional meat pies, Yanjiao vinegar, and Yanjiao noodles. On the opening day, the event attracted nearly 10,000 visitors.
