Hongdu Scenic Area in Yuqing is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Hongdu Village in Dawujiang Town, Yuqing County, is located by the Wu River, about 2 kilometers from the town center of Dawujiang. It earned the name "Hongdu" (Red Crossing) because in January 1935, the Red Army was the first to cross the Wu River at the HuiLong Ferry in the village and march northward to Zunyi. The village enjoys convenient transportation, beautiful surroundings, and a pleasant climate. Surrounded by rolling hills and crisscrossed by streams, it boasts picturesque scenery in all seasons. On this land where the Red Army once fought bravely, new approaches to building “rural homestays” are currently being explored, seeking breakthroughs in the transformation and upgrade of the “Four at the Countryside · Beautiful Countryside” initiative.

Although Hongdu Village is named after the Red Army, it is famous for its terraced fields. The vast Hongdu Terraces are among the top ten most renowned terraces in Guizhou Province. Spanning more than 2,000 acres, these layered and staggered terraces are spread across altitudes of 300 to 900 meters, with the steepest slope reaching 50 degrees. They wind from the mountain foot to the summit, their lines flowing like clouds and their scale majestic and spectacular. The scenery changes with the seasons, offering breathtaking views. In this sea of terraces, the largest plot is no more than one acre, and most are small “ribbon ridges” that can only fit one or two rows of crops, or fragmented plots like the “three plots in a frog’s leap.” These features encapsulate the essence of Guizhou’s terraced fields while also showcasing their own unique charm.

The Hongdu Terraces are located in Hongdu Village, Dawujiang Town, Yuqing County, Guizhou Province. This is a grand group of terraces, all distributed between 300 to 900 meters above sea level, with the steepest slope reaching 50 degrees. Layer upon layer, they wind from the mountain foot to the summit, forming a vast, staggered landscape. Their lines flow like clouds, and their scale is both majestic and spectacular.

In this sea of terraces, the largest plot is no more than one acre, and most are small “ribbon ridges” that can only fit one or two rows of crops, or fragmented plots like the “three plots in a frog’s leap.” Hence, there's an amusing local joke: Once, after finishing plowing his field, a farmer counted only 99 plots and couldn’t find the last one. Later, when he picked up his straw raincoat from the ground, he discovered that one plot had been hidden beneath it all along. Such is the Hongdu Terraces—embodying the characteristics of Guizhou’s terraced fields while also possessing their own unique beauty.

Hongdu Village: Located on the southern bank of the Dawu River, Hongdu Village is 3 kilometers from the Dawujiang Town government. The area features rugged roads and undulating mountains. The village enjoys a pleasant climate, with no severe cold in winter or intense heat in summer, and an average annual temperature of around 16 degrees Celsius. The main crops include rice, corn, and other food staples, as well as peanuts, chili peppers, and sorghum as cash crops. The village comprises 14 villager groups, including Laohéchōng, Yàntángpíng, Zhàishàng, Dàpíng, Lóushàngzǐ, and Shuǐchēshān, with 576 households and a population of 1,971.
