Gong’an Fort Ruins

The Gong’an Fort Ruins is a cultural tourism attraction.

Gong’an Fort is situated in an extremely rugged area, covered with dense forests. It is flanked on the east and west by the Suancao Gully and Yuqiu River, which have carved out deep valleys to form natural barriers. The only access route runs along the Shuidu River (Yukong River), making it a typical military stronghold. During the Tongzhi era of the Qing Dynasty, Tan Jiyu led the Green Banner peasant rebel army to station here and near Miaolin Forest, advancing toward the county seat, shaking northern Guizhou. Later, they were surrounded and defeated by Qing forces. The Green Banner troops held out in Gong’an Fort for several months before the Qing army breached the fort. Over a thousand rebel soldiers were captured and executed on the spot at the "Execution Platform" and "Shame Cliff" within the fort. The ruins of these sites remain to this day.
