The former site of the Red Army Hospital in Changgang is located in Yantankan Village Group, Yantang Village, Changgang Town. The structure is a three-sided courtyard with wooden frames and blue-tiled roofs, facing east and west. It spans five bays, with a total width of 17 meters and a depth of 8 meters. The east wing has two bays, spanning 8 meters in width and 8 meters in depth, matching the west wing. This site was originally the home of farmers Zhang Hong’an and Zhang Panzhi. The building features wooden columns and floors, double-sloped tiled roofs, with wooden walls, doors, and carved lattice windows on the lower part, and bamboo-strip partition walls plastered with mud and coated in lime on the upper part, giving it a simple and elegant appearance. The entire courtyard consists of 18 rooms of varying sizes, with five rooms facing the front. The larger central hall is flanked by a pair of lively small stone lions carved on either side of the main door. On the south side, there are two connected corner rooms with tiled roofs, while on the north side, there is an additional four-room wooden wing that intersects the main house in a T-shape. This unique and concise architectural style is locally referred to as an irregular three-sided courtyard, also called a "long five-bay with corner room." Currently, the north-side wing has been demolished, but the front and south-side corner rooms are still well-preserved. In 1935, during the Long March, the Red Army established a hospital here to treat wounded soldiers and local villagers.
