Plateau Thousand Island Lake Leisure Resort is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

In 2007, after the formation of the 370-square-kilometer plateau lake in the Longtan Hydropower Station reservoir area, 20,000 residents of Luodian County were relocated, altering the region's geography — and such geographical shifts inevitably give birth to new civilizations. Plateau Thousand Island Lake is an unpolished jade hidden deep within the mountains straddling Guizhou and Guangxi provinces. This “jade” is not only majestic in scale but also boasts spectacular and beautiful scenery. Verdant green mountains stand tall in the water, lush and densely forested, forming a harmonious, transparent, emerald-like green world. Here, the mountains are green, the trees are green, and even the crystal-clear lake water is green. Throughout the year, wildflowers dot the green landscape, adding to its vibrant charm.

“A lake is the eye of the earth.” When China’s youngest lake — Plateau Thousand Island Lake in Luodian, Guizhou — came into view, it felt as if “boats were gliding through the air, and people walking on mirror-like surfaces.” After careful development, the lake now shimmers with tranquil waves, like a maiden, with thousands of islands scattered across the vast waters, creating a breathtaking aquatic scene. Travel Tips

Transportation:

Take a bus from Jinyang Bus Station to Luodian, which takes about 4 hours to reach the county town. The Plateau Thousand Island Lake Pier (Luodian Port) is approximately 1 kilometer from the county town and can be reached by driving along the East Ring Road — transportation is very convenient. From the Thousand Island Lake Pier, you can take a boat to tour the surrounding beautiful lake and mountain scenery or travel downstream all the way to Guangxi.

Special Products:

Luodian specialties include soybean chicken, dog meat sausage, sesame swordfish (a rare wild fish), buckwheat ash tofu, and radish-black goat.

Additionally, when visiting Plateau Thousand Island Lake, you must not miss the wild fish feast of the Hongshui River. As the saying goes, “If you don’t eat sesame swordfish, your trip to Luodian is in vain.” “Sesame Swordfish” (also known as Siniperca scherzeri), together with perch (Lateolabrax japonicus), Jia fish (Ptychidio jordani), and mandarin fish (Siniperca chuatsi), is hailed as one of the “Four Famous Fish of the Pearl River.” This rare wild fish is found only in rivers within Luodian County at the border of Guizhou and Guangxi, and in a stretch of several dozen kilometers of the Hongshui River in the Pearl River basin. It has a deliciously fragrant, smooth taste with Q-textured, tender flesh.
