Red Army Battlefield Site

In March 1935, the Central Red Army crossed the Wu River southward and passed through Longli. On April 6, the vanguard entered the Xima River area from Kaiyang County. On April 7, the main force of the Red Army entered Longli. On April 8, the left-wing army feigned an attack on Longli and encountered the 14th Regiment of the Gong Shunbi Brigade under Sun Du’s Yunnan Army at Baji Fort in what is now the Xiangshuihe Scenic Area. After fierce fighting, the enemy retreated to the southern bank of Baji Bridge and faced off against the Red Army. The Red Army swiftly advanced toward Guanyinshan and engaged in a fierce battle with the Yunnan Army’s 18th Regiment at Shaoguantian. Enemy aircraft bombed Yuanbao, Shaoguantian, and Wangguan, resulting in the deaths of 15 Red Army soldiers. The First Front Army of the Red Army fought fiercely with the enemy for four hours at Guanyinshan. In January 1936, the Second and Sixth Corps of the Red Army rendezvoused at Guanyinshan. The Guanyinshan Revolutionary Battle Site was designated as a county-level cultural relics protection unit in 1980.
