In April 1935 and February 1936, the Central Red Army, the Second Red Army, and the Sixth Red Army Corps successively gathered in villages such as Changba Village, Sancun Village (Bimeng area) in Shuichang Township to strike the enemy and preserve the main force. According to elders and historical records, Mao Zedong and [redacted] stayed and ate here while planning strategic deployments. Later, the main forces of the Red Army split into left, center, and right columns to carry out a major strategic transfer. It can be said that the convergence of the Red Army's main forces in Bimeng, followed by their division into three routes for strategic transfer, was a crucial step in the ultimate victory of the Long March.

On April 6, 1935, the vanguard of the Central Red Army entered Balang Township and Xima Town in Longli County from Kaiyang County, operating in areas such as Shuiwei and Niuchang. On April 7, [redacted] ordered the Red Field Army to advance south between Guiyang and Longli. From April 8 to 9, the Red Army split into three routes: the left column moved south from Xinba Township in Guiding County into Longli County, passing through Gaoping, Sanyuanqiao, and Pingdibao, then crossed the Long (Longli)–Zhu (Guiyang) Highway at Shaoguantian to Wuguan; the central column set out from Ximahe and moved south through Luobao, Napa, and Gaobao, crossing the Long–Zhu Highway at Liangshuijing to Wangguan; the right column moved west from Niuchangba, crossed Taizi Mountain, passed through Dagulong and Maochang (now Xingshi), and traversed the Long–Zhu Highway at Dapo to Wangguan.
On April 9, the three columns merged into one and set out from Wangguan, passing through Shapojiao, Meijiazhuang, and Yimaizhai to Shuichang’s Changba Village and Sancun Village. That night, they camped in villages including Meijiazhuang Shangshao, Wayaozhai, Jichangbao, Zhongzhai, Bazitou, Dazhai, and XiaHongyan. Mao Zedong and [redacted] held meetings here to plan strategic deployments, adjusted the marching route, and decided to advance in three separate routes to avoid enemy air raids.
On April 10, the left column advanced from Changba Village and Sancun Village through Jichangbao, Maruo (Minzhu) Changba, and Shalayan to Gaopo in Guiyang, entering Dingfan; the central column moved down from Changba Village and Sancun Village through Guguo, Gaogou Mountain, and Guizhai to Qilong and Zhaosi in Guiyang, then entered Dingfan; the right column proceeded from Changba Village and Sancun Village through XiaHongyan, Shuiyanchong, and Niudachang to Yangmeizhai and Qingyan in Guiyang.
During their stay in Longli County, the Central Red Army and the Second and Sixth Red Armies were subjected to daily reconnaissance and bombings by enemy aircraft. A total of 15 Red Army soldiers are known to have been killed.
