The Gulong Wushan Rock Carvings are located 1 km north of the Dagan'gou Bridge on the Gui-Xin Expressway (at the intersection of 106°51′ east longitude and 26°30′ north latitude), 3 km from the town government seat, 15 km from downtown Guiyang, and 15 km from Longli County. The rock carvings were discovered in 2001 and have drawn attention from relevant experts over the past two years.

The rock wall where the carvings are found forms an inward-curving, steep cliff on the eastern side of the upper reaches of the Ganchonggou Valley. It stands 40–60 meters high, with the rock face stretching approximately 150 meters in length. The densest concentration of images in the rock carving cluster is located on the lower 1–5 meter section of the cliff, spanning about 100 meters. The carvings face west, fronted by a relatively open valley, beyond which a small river flows southwest. About 400 meters from the carvings, there is a small dam that forms a small lake when water levels are high, extending to the foot of the mountain where the carvings are situated.

At the base of the cliff, there is a concave sheltered area that provides some protection from rain, along with four caves arranged in descending order. The highest cave is a spring outlet that flows year-round. The other caves have small openings but are spacious and dry inside. Corresponding to the cave entrances at the top of the cliff are noticeable signs of smoke staining, likely caused by human activity.

The rock carvings extend for hundreds of meters, comprising over 500 individual images. In terms of scale and quantity, they are the largest in the province. The carvings depict ritual dance scenes, ancient fertility worship images, exile scenes, farmland scenes, as well as various depictions of cattle, horses, sheep, dogs, and large birds. Based on the imagery, the subjects can be categorized into four types: humans, animals, celestial bodies (the sun), and abstract symbols. The diverse themes reflect the rich content of ancient economic life, religious beliefs, philosophical ideas, and aesthetic values. The artistic quality of the carvings is very high, making them extremely rare among rock art in China. They are estimated to date back to the late Spring and Autumn period.

The Wushan Rock Carvings are notable for their large scale, rich content, strong artistic value, favorable location, and good accessibility. The surrounding environment is easy to develop and utilize. As an important cultural heritage site, it has exceptional resource potential. Therefore, this site can be developed as a key tourist attraction in Gulong.
