East City and West City

East City is located 13 kilometers west of the county town. The site measures 1.5 kilometers from east to west and 1 kilometer from north to south, taking on a rectangular shape. The earthen city walls have been leveled, but the moats on the eastern and northern sides still remain. Grey pottery ring wells have been discovered within the city. To the east of the city lies a cluster of Western Han Dynasty tombs. Burial objects unearthed from the tombs include grey pottery ding (tripod cauldrons), dou (food vessels), hu (wine jars), fang (square vessels), guan (jars), bronze fu (cauldrons), xi (basins), and grey pottery figurines. West City is situated 27 kilometers west of the county town, on the eastern side of Wangrenji. The site spans 1.5 kilometers from north to south and 0.5 kilometers from east to west. The city walls have been leveled, but the moats on the western and northern sides still remain. Along the moat of West City, especially after heavy rain, ant-nose coins (currency of the Chu Kingdom) can often be found. About 500 meters east of the city lies Lizhai Village, where a cluster of Han Dynasty tombs has been discovered. New money from the Xinmang period was unearthed here, and rope-patterned pottery ring wells have also been identified by scholars.
