Duyun Dongshan Park is a national AA-level tourist attraction.

Dongshan Park is a AA-level tourist attraction, located in the eastern part of the city, covering an area of approximately 20 hectares. It is a comprehensive park that integrates flower gardens, landscaped areas, pavilions, cliff inscriptions, and ancient ruins. The *Duyun County Annals Draft* describes it as: “Dongshan Mountain stands majestically with a solemn presence, embraced by the Jian River in front and surrounded by other peaks, serving as the guardian mountain of the prefectural seat.”

At the top of Dongshan Mountain stands the Kuixing Pavilion, the highest ancient structure in Duyun’s skyline. Originally built in the 27th year of the Hongwu reign during the Ming Dynasty (1394), it was converted into a bell and drum tower in the Gengshen year of the Jiaqing reign during the Qing Dynasty (1800) and named “Kuixing Pavilion.” The pavilion houses a large bronze bell and drum. At sunrise, when viewed from the city, the mountaintop glows brilliantly and the pavilion appears ethereal, resembling a celestial palace of extraordinary beauty. The morning bell rings out loud and melodious, echoing over the urban area and heard for miles around. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, it was known as the “Dongshan Morning Sun,” also called the “Dongshan Morning Bell,” and ranked first among the “Eight Scenic Spots of Duyun.” On both the north and south sides of Kuixing Pavilion, sections of the ancient city wall dating back over 2,000 years are still preserved.

The mountain features multiple attractions including the Zhang Chong Cliff Inscription. In the 40th year of the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty, Zhang Chong inscribed running script on the stone cliff of Dongshan: “The sentiments of benevolence and wisdom, the principles of movement and stillness—dwelling in this secluded valley, drinking from these springs, recorded by Zhang Chong of Helou in the 40th year of the Jiajing reign of the Great Ming.”
