Yaolin Cave

Yaolin Cave is located in Yaolin Village, Xiaoweizhai Town, in the southern part of the city, about 5 kilometers from the city center. Surrounded by verdant hills and meandering streams, Yaolin Village is nestled in the northwest of the town where the cave lies hidden within a valley embraced by two towering mountains. The cave has three entrances, stretching approximately 2 kilometers in length, with about 1,600 meters open to visitors. It comprises a total of 33 large and small chambers, with over 100 scenic spots. Major attractions include Dragon Cave, Dragons Battling for Treasure, Yaolin Heavenly Grotto, Bao’gai Flower Hall, Jewel Tower, Thousand Buddha Hall, and the Undersea Dragon Palace. In Dragon Cave, a dragon-shaped ridge over 40 meters long spans the ceiling, with clearly visible bones and scales. The Thousand Buddha Hall features a stone curtain cascading from above like a Milky Way falling from the heavens, while the walls are adorned with layered stalactites in countless fantastic shapes resembling Buddhas from the Western Paradise. The Jewel Tower contains milk-yellow secondary calcite formations, with clusters of stalactites resembling strings of pearls, upside-down golden melons, and a glittering profusion of treasures adorning the cavern. In the Undersea Dragon Palace, a silvery waterfall pours from the sky into the cave, where an underground river with a water surface area of about 2,000 square meters allows for boat rides. The cave’s stalactites are strikingly lifelike and dazzlingly diverse, overwhelming the senses with their beauty. Meandering passages, steep ladders and sky bridges, along with the unseen but audible underground river, all contribute to a mysterious, deep, and thrilling atmosphere. Just a stone’s throw from the city center, Yaolin Cave boasts uniquely exquisite karst formations that stand out among other limestone caves.
