The Phoenix Twisting River is a section of the Fengxi River that flows through Fengzhuang Village in Shazhai. The approximately 13-kilometer-long Phoenix Twisting River Gorge from Yuxian Bridge to Horseshoe Rock features many place names related to immortals or phoenixes along its banks, such as Yuxian Bridge, Shuangxian Peak, Fengzhuang Mountain, Fengqi Islet, Yingfeng Spring, and Fengzhuang Village. Fengzhuang Village lies on the second-largest river in Duyun City.

The Phoenix Twisting River Gorge is located 54 kilometers from the city center and borders Dushan and Pingtang counties, situated at the junction of the three regions. The natural ecology of the Phoenix Twisting River Gorge remains well-preserved, with lush forests at the foot of the mountains and over a thousand ancient trees such as wingnut and Hongke Lang still lining the riverbanks. The river is home to more than twenty fish species, including soft-shelled turtles, giant salamanders, horned fish, Maigun fish, black carp, and flower carp, as well as colorful seashells for research and appreciation. The gorge features emerald-green mountains and jade-like waters, offering breathtaking scenery. In particular, the 4-kilometer stretch from the Lajiadu Hydropower Station upstream to Golden Sand Beach is ideal for scenic boat cruises. The downstream section from Fengqi Islet to Horseshoe Rock spans about 9 kilometers, featuring seven bends, nine rapids, and 28 thrilling surfing spots, making it a perfect destination for rafting and adventure.

Transportation: By car (bus); within the city, take bus routes 1–29 at 1 yuan per ride.

Taxi (ride-hailing): The starting fare within the city is 5 yuan. A taxi from the city to the Phoenix Twisting River costs about 150–200 yuan.

Long-distance bus: Phoenix Twisting River is located in Shazhai Township, Duyun City. Take bus routes 1, 3, or 16 within the city to Xuejiabao Bus Station, then transfer to the direct shuttle bus to Phoenix Twisting River (10 yuan fare). Alternatively, take the Duyun–Pingtang intercity bus (departing every 20 minutes), get off at Mochong Town, and walk for half an hour to reach Phoenix Twisting River.

Accommodation: Hotels such as Magic Hotel, Ganglong Hotel, Longtan Hotel, Wenfeng Hotel, and Juncheng Hotel offer standard rooms at discounted rates of around 80–150 yuan, which are quite affordable.

Fees: No entrance fee, but rafting has a separate charge.
