See Pingyao Again

The large-scale live-action performance "See Pingyao Again" is the first project of the "See Series" in northern China and one of the important tourism development initiatives during Shanxi Province’s transformation from an energy-focused province to a cultural hub during the 12th Five-Year Plan period.

"See Pingyao Again" tells a story about the continuity of bloodlines and enduring legacy: In the late Qing Dynasty, Zhao Yishuo, the owner of a draft bank in the ancient city of Pingyao, exhausted his family fortune to rescue a branch manager, Mr. Wang, and his descendant from Russia. He was accompanied by 232 guards from the Tongxinggong Escort Agency. Seven years later, Zhao Yishuo himself, along with all 232 guards, perished en route, but Mr. Wang’s lineage survived.

Unlike previous live shows in the "Impression" series, "See Pingyao Again" breaks away from traditional outdoor natural landscape settings by moving the performance indoors and organically integrating elements of the ancient city into the show.
