Weining Suohuangcang National Wetland Park

Weining Suohuangcang National Wetland Park is a national-level wetland park.

Weining Suohuangcang Wetland Park in Guizhou borders Caohai Lake and is located downstream of the Caohai National Nature Reserve. Compared to the majestic Caohai, Suohuangcang Wetland appears delicate and graceful, often referred to as "Little Caohai."

It is 6.5 km from the county town, at an altitude of 2200–2250 m. The wetland park falls within the warm temperate plateau monsoon climate zone and features abundant sunshine, cool summers, slightly cold winters with occasional frost, and relatively dry conditions in winter and spring. The annual average temperature is 10.5°C. The planned total area of the park is 244.67 hectares, with boundaries on the east, south, and north defined by urban planning roads, and extending west to the Longjiayuanzi and Samadi areas. The wetland coverage rate is 31.3%.

The planned area of the park is home to 165 species of terrestrial wild vertebrates, including 11 species of fish, 12 species of amphibians, 12 species of reptiles, and 130 species of birds. Among them, the nationally protected species include: the Black-necked Crane (Grus nigricollis) as a Class I protected species, and nine Class II protected species: Black Kite (Milvus migrans), Eurasian Sparrowhawk (Accipiter nisus), Besra (Accipiter virgatus), Northern Goshawk (Accipiter gentilis), Common Buzzard (Buteo buteo), Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus), Common Kestrel (Falco tinnunculus), Common Crane (Grus grus), and Short-eared Owl (Asio flammeus).
