Xiliang Mountain
Located to the west of Caohai Lake, covering an area of over 70 square kilometers with an average elevation of 2,500 meters, Xiliang Mountain is an administrative area of Shuanglong Township. It consists of three villages—Gaopo, Liangshan, and Gaoshan—from the lower to higher elevations, where more than 6,000 people (the vast majority of whom are Hui Muslims) live and thrive. What this land has given to its mountain dwellers over the years, however, is relentless wind and sand, a landscape scarred and battered, and crops of yellowish, stunted corn, potatoes, buckwheat, and oats.
