Jiezi Ancient Town Jiezisi Pagoda

Jiezi Ancient Town in Chongzhou City, Chengdu, is located at the foot of Fengqi Mountain in the northwest of Chongzhou, adjacent to the northeast of the world natural and cultural heritage site — Dujiangyan. To the north are the Qingcheng Back Mountain and a golf course, and to the northwest lies the Jiulonggou Tourist Scenic Area. It is 57 kilometers from Chengdu, 23 kilometers from Chongzhou City — a Sichuan provincial-level historical and cultural city, and 8 kilometers from Qingcheng Mountain.

The Jiezisi Pagoda was built during the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty, constructed with stone strips, stone piers, and blue bricks. The pagoda stands 15 meters tall and has a hexagonal shape with five levels. The outer walls of the top four levels are adorned with murals depicting stories such as "The Legend of the White Snake."

The character pagoda reflects the ancient belief that "respecting written characters brings blessings." It was thought that casually discarding or soiling paper with writing was immoral, and discarded written paper should be collected in special baskets and burned collectively.

In Jiezi Town, two character pagodas dedicated to burning paper were built at the upper and lower entrances of the street. The one at the upper entrance has been destroyed, but the one at the lower entrance remains well-preserved to this day, becoming a scenic feature of the ancient town.
