Wenjingjiang Town is located in the northwest of Chongzhou City, Sichuan Province. It is a national-level ecological town, situated 68 kilometers from Chengdu. With over 95% forest coverage, the town gets its name from the Wenjing River, the mother river of Chongzhou, which flows through the area. The region enjoys cool summers and mild winters, and is home to the closest natural therapeutic hot spring to the Chengdu metropolitan area. The area is rich in natural resources, has deep cultural heritage, and is populated by warm and simple people. It offers authentic local food, stunning landscapes, delicious oxygen-rich air; the fresh air and abundant sunshine create an atmosphere of health and vitality, making it a rare and ideal destination for health-focused leisure and sightseeing near Chengdu. Wenjingjiang Town is home to over 20,000 acres of bamboo forests, earning it the reputation of a “paradise on earth.” Chongzhou’s Wenjingjiang Town promotes its signature attractions—hot springs, bamboo sea, and loquat tea—to establish itself as an ecological leisure tourism destination. The town features a natural karst cave, over 100 meters high and more than 50 meters wide. Inside the cave, the stone walls display numerous “landscape paintings,” which are actually natural patterns formed in the rock. This cave is the result of crustal shifts that created fissures in the mountain. Over hundreds of millions of years, the magma within underwent weathering and calcification, forming the spectacular “landscape paintings” on the cave walls. Embedded in the walls are also parent-and-child stones—large rocks encasing countless smaller ones—in various unique shapes. The cave is quite large in scale and is relatively rare in western Sichuan, making it a promising site for developing emerging tourism.
