Moxi Gully Ecotourism Area

Moxi Gully Ecotourism Area is located in Lubaxiang Township, Kangding County, Sichuan Province. It is an important part of the Gongga Mountain National Scenic Area and National Nature Reserve, covering an area of approximately 1,000 square kilometers. The area includes landmarks such as Boundary Stone, Renzhongwei Sea, Bawang Sea, Shiliu Village, Gongga Temple, Yulongxi, Spring Tufa Terrace, and Lotus Sea.

The Moxi Gully Ecotourism Area features a warm temperate and moist compound zonal ecosystem with six vertical zones. The high mountain gorges formed by Gongga Mountain and Zimei Mountain boast the majestic Gongba Glacier and colorful glacial landforms. Gongga Temple, situated at an altitude of 3,700 meters on the Quaternary glacial ridge of Jiji Ti, has a history of over 700 years and is a renowned temple of the Kagyu sect in the Kangding region. Zimei Village and Weishida Village, nestled in the Moxi Gully valley at an altitude of 3,400 meters, are truly “hidden paradises.” This ecotourism area offers rich sightseeing value, including lush and dense primeval forests, a wide variety of wildlife, numerous natural hot springs, spectacular peaks and rocks, enchanting canyon scenery, a vibrant array of waterfalls, magnificent glaciers, mist-covered alpine lakes, the mystical Gongga Banner Clouds, and a profound religious culture. It serves as an excellent destination for hiking, mountaineering, adventure, and scientific expeditions. The project plans to build a tourist center capable of receiving 500 visitors per day, along with hotels and supporting facilities. These include scenic area roads and walking trails, as well as essential infrastructure such as water, electricity, and communications, plus the development of key scenic spots.
