Zheduo Mountain

Zheduo Mountain is located in Garzê Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, at an elevation of 4,298 meters. It is known as the First Pass of Kham and serves as an important geographical boundary. To the west lies the uplifted plateau region, home to the Yalong River, while to the east is the high mountain and canyon area, where the Dadu River flows. The Dadu River basin is a transitional zone in terms of ethnicity and cultural forms, primarily inhabited by the Tibetan subgroup known as "Jiarong," whose territory extends northward to the Dadu and Xiaojin river areas in Aba Prefecture, Sichuan. East of Zheduo Mountain is mountainous terrain, while to the west lies the eastern part of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau—the true Tibetan region. In Tibetan, "Zheduo" means "twisting" or "winding," which is also how the name is written in Chinese.
