The Red Army's Hundred Zhang Pass Battle Memorial Hall is a classic site on China’s red tourism routes.

Hundred Zhang Pass was a strategic gateway from Ya'an to Chengdu, long regarded as the key to the region, with an old saying: "Whoever controls Hundred Zhang (Pass) will surely take Chengdu."

In November 1935, after successively capturing Baoxing, Tianquan, and Lushan, the Fourth Red Army was preparing to advance through Mingshan into the western Sichuan plains to establish a base in Chengdu.

At dawn on November 19, 1935, the enemy forces launched an attack on the Red Army’s over ten-mile-long arc-shaped defensive position in the Hundred Zhang area from the north, east, and south, with more than ten brigades supported by aircraft and artillery. After the Hundred Zhang battle, the Fourth Red Army shifted its defense to a line stretching from Jiuding Mountain in the north to Lianhua Mountain in Mingshan. In February 1936, due to strategic relocation, the Red Army forces stationed in Mingshan County gradually withdrew.

The Red Army's Hundred Zhang Pass Battle Memorial Hall was originally the site of the Tianzhu Temple on Mengding Mountain and served as the headquarters during the Hundred Zhang Pass Battle. The memorial hall was established in 1985 and displays artifacts and historical materials related to the Red Army’s entry into Mingshan in November 1935, especially those from the Hundred Zhang Pass Battle.

The name of the Red Army's Hundred Zhang Pass Battle Memorial Hall was inscribed by Lin Jiamei, the wife of Li Xiannian. In addition to a wealth of textual and photographic historical materials, the museum also houses weapons, currency, land distribution certificates, briefcases, and other artifacts. There are also stone inscriptions featuring calligraphy from Deng Xiaoping, Xu Xiangqian, Zhang Aiping, Liu Bocheng, Yang Chengwu, and Xiao Hua...
