The Site of the Hongjun Battle of Bazhangguan is a Sichuan Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit and a classic red tourism destination.

The Site of the Hongjun Battle of Bazhangguan

In November 1935, soldiers of the Fourth Red Army fought fiercely against the Nationalist troops in the Hudalin area for three days and nights, with over ten thousand soldiers sacrificing their lives. The scene was extremely brutal. More than 80 years later, remnants of the battle such as earthen watchtowers, large and small shell craters, three trenches, unnamed Red Army mass graves, and ancient courtyards can still be clearly seen.

Local governments and residents have actively carried out actions to protect the site, focusing on excavating and preserving red resources, inheriting and promoting Red Army culture, and providing future generations with a vivid patriotic education base.

In 2019, the Site of the Hongjun Battle of Bazhangguan was announced by the People's Government of Sichuan Province as part of the ninth batch of provincial-level cultural relics protection units.
