The Ancient Tea Horse Road in Mingshan

The Ancient Tea Horse Road in Mingshan is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Sichuan.

Ya'an's climate is suitable for tea production, and the best tea-growing area is in Mingshan, which is why Mingshan is the starting point of the Ancient Tea Horse Road.

Mingshan serves as a hub for tea, with surrounding teas also transported here via ancient stone-paved paths. Hidden deep within the bamboo forests along the old road from Hongya to Mingshan lies one such stone path.

The Ancient Tea Horse Road from Mingshan through Ya'an to Erlang Mountain was considered a minor route before the Republican era. It became a main route into Tibet only after the introduction of motor vehicle transport.
