The First Mountain Pavilion

Guide: The First Mountain Pavilion, located in the center of the low-mountain scenic area, is currently the largest copper pavilion in China and also serves as the starting point for visitors entering the mountain on foot.

Introduction: After passing through the "Famous Mountains Under Heaven" archway, the first impressive sight visitors encounter is the majestic "First Mountain Pavilion," with the three large characters "第一山" (First Mountain) shining brilliantly on the pavilion. The pavilion stands 16.1 meters tall, features double eaves and upturned corners, and is exquisitely crafted with an imposing and magnificent presence, glittering in gold and radiant in brilliance. The four plaques on the pavilion are inscribed respectively with "第一山" (First Mountain), "峨眉山" (Mount Emei), "大光明山" (Great Bright Mountain), and "皇人之山" (Mountain of the Emperor’s People). These titles represent Mount Emei’s prominent status among China’s famous mountains, as well as in Buddhism and Taoism. At the center of the pavilion stands a fully copper-cast emblem, 2.5 meters high and 2 meters wide, shaped like a "crystal-clear gem supported by a floating lotus on water." The entire emblem is divided into three layers: the gem, the lotus, and the base. The gem is made of crystal, containing copper-cast emblems of "World Heritage" and "National Scenic Area," which are crystal clear and sparkle brilliantly. Both the lotus and the base are cast in copper, with six lotus petals engraved with famous old and new scenic spots of Mount Emei. The inner sides of the four pavilion pillars are carved with eight images of famous Mount Emei landscapes.
