Highlights Beamless Brick Hall: The second hall of Wannian Temple, also known as the Puxian Hall. This hall is entirely built of bricks, without a single piece of wood, pillar, or tile. Majestic and spectacular, it features an ancient Indian architectural style, with its design concept originating from the ancient Chinese cosmology of a round sky and square earth. The Brick Hall is a marvel of ancient Chinese architecture. Having endured 18 earthquakes over the past 400 years, it remains intact and is hailed as a miracle in the history of ancient Chinese architecture. Inside the hall stands a bronze statue of the Bodhisattva Samantabhadra riding a six-tusked white elephant, cast during the Song Dynasty. It is 7.85 meters tall and weighs 62 tons. With a history of over a thousand years, it is considered a rare national treasure. The wall niches house three thousand small Buddha statues, together with the Samantabhadra statue, forming a grand scene of the Bodhisattva teaching his disciples. The flying apsaras patterns on the ceiling depict figures with graceful postures and elegant dance movements, creating a perfect blend of heavenly and earthly scenes. "Autumn Winds over White Water": In the White Water Pool, mountain shadows slant across the water; outside the temple, red leaves flutter in the autumn breeze. It is water like wind—Autumn Winds over White Water. This natural scenic wonder was praised by the Qing Dynasty literati Tan Zhongyue as one of the ancient "Ten Scenic Spots of Mount Emei."

Introduction Wannian Temple is one of the eight major temples on Mount Emei, situated at an altitude of 1,020 meters. Established during the Eastern Jin Dynasty, it was originally named Puxian Temple. During the reign of Emperor Xizong of the Tang Dynasty, Master Hu Tong rebuilt the temple and renamed it Baishui Temple. In the Song Dynasty, it was renamed Baishui Puxian Temple. In the 28th year of the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty (1600 AD), the Beamless Brick Hall was constructed, and Emperor Shenzong Zhu Yijun bestowed the name "Shengshou Wannian Temple," commonly referred to as Wannian Temple. It is one of the earliest six ancient temples on Mount Emei. Originally, the temple complex had seven halls: the Vairocana Hall, Seven Buddhas Hall, Heavenly King Hall, Vajra Hall, Great Buddha Hall, Brick Hall, and Receiving Hall. Currently, there are five halls: the Mountain Gate, Maitreya Hall, Brick Hall, Weiya Treasure Hall, and Mahavira Hall. Wannian Temple has a long history, has produced many eminent monks, and houses a rich collection of Buddhist relics. The temple’s treasures are of extremely high quality, including Buddha statues, the "Three Treasures of Buddhism" (palm-leaf scriptures, Buddha's tooth, and imperial seal), ritual implements, calligraphy and paintings, plaques and couplets, temple architecture, and decorative elements.

Transportation Located at the foot of Guanxin Ridge, the temple faces other temples such as Daping and Niuxin, along with peaks like the Stone Bamboo and alms bowl.
