Rong'an–Kehe Grand Canyon

The Rong'an–Kehe Grand Canyon scenic area features a deeply incised high-mountain canyon landscape. Starting at the mouth of the Darcang Gully in Rong'an Township at an altitude of 2,900 meters, it follows the Kehe Canyon, a tributary of the Dadu River (the Ma'erqu River), upstream to the summit of E'jia E'manyar Mountain in the Kehe Canyon, which stands at 5,036 meters. The relative elevation difference reaches 2,136 meters. The canyon is deeply carved, with rapid rivers and rugged terrain. The surging river roars through the gorge, while narrow paths cling to cliffs amid jagged rock formations, revealing breathtaking scenery. There are also unique attractions such as the Kehe Twin Watchtowers, cantilever bridges, Kehe traditional houses, sacred mountain temples, stupas, fishpond stone thresholds, Motian Ridge, and Anhu Reservoir, all of which are incredibly beautiful and leave visitors spellbound. The two canyons converge below Zhiga in Rong'an Township and continue on toward the territory of Barkam. The vast primeval forests are alive with the movement of beasts and soaring eagles, the roars of bears, and birdsong, hosting a rich diversity of wildlife.
