Former Site of the Anti-Japanese War Primary School in Tianxian Town

The former site of the Anti-Japanese War Primary School in Tianxian Town is a cultural relics protection unit of Sichuan Province.

The Anti-Japanese War Primary School is located at Ledaizi in Huabeixi Community, Tianxian Town, Naxi District. The school was established in the autumn of 1938, the 30th year of the Republic of China, as a "Bao Guomin" (protect the people) school. It was initiated by Mr. Zeng Ziping, a student of Yun Daiying, and built with donations from local residents. Although the construction project was quite large at the time and took place during the special historical period of the Anti-Japanese War, the school's design and craftsmanship were meticulous. To educate future generations not to forget national humiliation or become slaves, four stone pedestals were erected on the playground podium of the Anti-Japanese War Primary School, each inscribed with patriotic slogans such as "Down with the Japanese Devils," "Return Our Rivers and Mountains," "Educate the Talented," "Victory in the War of Resistance," and "Drive Out the Invaders."

After decades of vicissitudes, the inscriptions remain clear to this day and can be considered a treasure of the school. In 1940, the school was completed. Because it was founded amid the flames of the Anti-Japanese War, it was named the Anti-Japanese War Primary School, becoming the only school in China named after the "War of Resistance."

In 2007, the former site was designated as a cultural relics protection unit of Sichuan Province in accordance with the document Chuan Fu Han [2007] No. 114. The school was closed in 2008, and in May 2012, the district government converted it into the "Luzhou City Anti-Japanese War Memorial Hall," which includes eight exhibition halls for visitors to explore.
