The Liu Family Courtyard in Luquan

The Liu Family Courtyard in Luquan is a cultural relic protection unit of Sichuan Province.

The embroidery tower of the Liu Family Courtyard in Luquan was the residence of the wealthy Liu Mingjin family. Constructed during the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty, it spans 420 square meters and consists of a front courtyard and a rear courtyard, with a two-story, one-basement structure of post-and-lintel wooden construction in between — exemplifying typical quadrangle courtyard architectural style. This was the space where the Liu family’s young ladies engaged in embroidery and resided. Once a young lady moved into the embroidery tower, she was not allowed to leave until her marriage.

Protection area: Southeast to the bank of Zhuxi River, northwest to the opposite side of Xinglong Street, southwest and northeast both extending 20 meters beyond the outer wall of the Liu Family Courtyard.

Construction control zone: Southeast to the opposite riverbank of Zhuxi River, southwest extending 36 meters beyond the outer wall foundation, northwest to the rear eaves of residential buildings opposite Xinglong Street, northeast extending 40 meters beyond the outer wall of the Liu Family Courtyard.
