Dinosaur Valley

Dinosaur Valley Scenic Area lies against Wolong Mountain (Crouching Tiger Mountain) and faces Wulong Mountain (Crouching Dragon Mountain). Wulong Mountain got its name because it resembles a tiger in shape and visitors can sometimes hear what sounds like a tiger’s roar atop the mountain during autumn and winter. Legend has it that the mountain was named Wulong (Crouching Dragon) because when the legendary Yu the Great was controlling the floods, three dragons—the Green Dragon, Black Dragon, and Fire Dragon—were said to have coiled around the mountain. The Dinosaur Valley Scenic Area features seven attractions: the first is taking a boat tour to the headwaters of the Hongqi Canal, one of the world’s eight great wonders; the second is seeing the site where Yu the Great was said to have deliberated on flood control, a story passed down through the ages; the third is exploring the world’s second-largest dinosaur valley to learn about the dinosaur family and uncover the mysteries of these ancient creatures; the fourth is admiring the legendary Divine Turtle and Spirit Frog; the fifth is experiencing the magnificent beauty of Zhanghe River’s first waterfall; the sixth is soaking in a naturally radiant hot spring pool; and the seventh is taking a ferry along a thousand-meter green corridor.
