Zhangjiawa is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

No one knows how many people have watched the movie "On the Taihang Mountains," how many still remember and continue to promote the Taihang spirit, or how many still reflect on the unyielding resilience of the Taihang military and civilians during those years of hardship. In that era, touching stories such as “mothers urging their sons to fight the invaders from the east, wives sending their husbands off to battle” played out almost daily. The flames of resistance, where “every village resembled a military camp, everyone was a soldier, and the anti-Japanese base areas echoed with the sounds of training,” blazed fiercely across the Taihang Mountains. Faced with ruthless invaders and natural disasters, the military and civilians in the base areas grew their own food when none was available, wove their own clothes when none could be bought, dug their own wells when there was no water, and planted their own vegetables when none could be found. From the commander-in-chief and officers to local cadres, and from ordinary soldiers to the common people, the military and civilians stood united, overcoming hardships together. It was this spirit of unity and hard struggle between the army and the people that enabled the Communist Party to win the support of the masses and ultimately the war. Today, who would have thought that amidst the very Taihang Mountains where countless military and civilians once struggled valiantly, there lies a place as beautiful as a fairyland—Zhangjiawa.
